Boys can be tough on their clothes! Here’s how to make shirts last longer despite active play and frequent washing:
Pre-Treat Stains Immediately
The sooner you treat stains, the better. Keep a stain remover stick handy and apply it as soon as possible after spills and messes.
Turn Shirts Inside Out
Before washing, turn shirts inside out to protect colors and graphics from fading and reduce pilling on the outside.
Use Cold Water
Cold water washing preserves colors, prevents shrinking, and is gentler on fabrics while still getting clothes clean.
Avoid Over-Drying
High heat damages fabric fibers and causes shrinking. Remove shirts from the dryer while slightly damp or air dry when possible.
Fold or Hang Properly
Button-down shirts should be hung to prevent wrinkles. T-shirts can be folded, but don’t cram too many into drawers.
Rotate the Wardrobe
Don’t let your son wear the same favorite shirt constantly. Rotating extends the life of all garments.
Repair Small Issues
Fix loose buttons and small holes immediately before they become bigger problems.
Quality Matters
Investing in well-made shirts means they’ll withstand more wear and washing cycles.
With proper care, boys’ shirts can last through multiple seasons and even be passed down to younger siblings!
